Are You a Microwave or a Crock Pot?

By Kimberly M. Chastain

In our fast paced society we often want everything done quickly or your boss wants it done yesterday. In your spiritual life are you a Microwave or Crock Pot? I think often we want God to answer our prayers in Microwave fashion. I prayed a specific request today and I want it answered today. If our prayers are not answered quickly, we often wonder, “What is God doing?” We also decide to go it on our own and not wait for God’s direction. Often it is difficult to wait on God’s timing.

When we are in Crock Pot mode we pray and rest in the knowledge that God’s timing is best. Often, God may have to let several things simmer in our life before He answers our prayer. Many times in my life I have seen God’s handiwork after the situation is over. If God had answered my prayer the way I wanted Him to, it would not have gone well at all. God knows what is best for us and when it is best for something to happen.

I look at Scripture and see God works in Microwave and Crock Pot mode. When Daniel was in the lion’s den God worked immediately to shut the mouths of the lions. I have to admit if I was Daniel I would want to know why God didn’t act before I was thrown in the lion’s den. Daniel being thrown in the lion’s den was used to reflect God’s glory and power. God also works in Crock Pot mode. Do you remember Joshua and the battle of Jericho? The people of Israel were marching around a wall for 7 days. Don’t you imagine they asked God, “Why?” During that time Rahab was getting her family ready to leave Jericho. Could it be that God took seven days of marching around Jericho, to save one woman and her family? Could it be that God took that time for one woman who was faithful to God in spite of her lifestyle, in spite of her whole community being against God to show His glory? Most of the Israelites did not know about Rahab, but God did. In God’s perfect timing He rescued the Israelites and Rahab, not in the way the Israelites would have wanted. God gave them victory in the battle in Crock Pot mode.

So, I ask you are you in Microwave mode or Crock Pot mode in your spiritual life? Please remember God is always in control even when it feels everything is out of control. Trust God’s timing and know He only wants what is best for you.

Women Institute

The White Gloves and Pearls Womens Institute is a outreach limb of First Touch Ministries for Women and is designed to develop the 3 W'sWOMEN of Excellence, WOMEN of Distinction, and WOMEN of  Purpose.

As WOMEN of excellence we are expected to carry out our missions for God with character and integrity.  We represent God in all we do, on the job, in the home, and in the community.  In all areas of our lives and no matter what the task God must be GLORIFY and pleased by who we are, what we do and how we do it.

As WOMEN of distinction we are unlike all others.  We have been separated and set apart by God.  We are all unique in our own special way.  We are striving to become more confident in who God has made us to be.  WHY?  Because we are all beautifully and wonderfully made in the image of God no matter what others may think or what we may think of ourselves. We learn to appreciate our uniquenness and those in others as well.

As WOMEN of purpose we have been born with a mission a destiny by God.  Here is where we discover the wonderfully deposited gifts and talents that God has graciously given to us. We use what our Father gave us to fulfill His plan and His purpose here on earth but first we must discover what that is and that is a process thats He reveaks to us over time.

The Proverb Women is the standand left by God for us to model ourselves after. As we aim towards the mark of God's higher calling, our journey starts by discovering our worth as  Women of Worth, Women of Value, Women of Substance, God's Women!

WHAT MAKES A PEARL?

The pearl is a lunar symbol, also representing water and woman. They are attributes of angelic perfection, which is only achieved by transmutation, and not freely given. Pearls are rare, pure and precious, flawless and white despite being dredged from the mud, coming from a clumsy shell.

Pearls are very beautiful and valuable gemstones, but what really makes them special is how they are created. A pearl is formed when some foriegn object gets inside of an oyster and irritates it. To soothe the irritation, the oyster secrets a substance that begins to form the pearl.

Pearls strung on a thread symbolize order, and pearl necklaces represent unity, a spiritual relationship between separate individuals and God.

Pearls are very special because they begin as a painful irritation, but the pain is only the beginning of a beautiful, desired gem.

I consider myself a pearl because I've had my share of irritating experiences, but through the grace of God, I've been able to transform that pain into something valuable. Pain hurts us, but it also makes us stronger and more beautiful in the process.

So thats my story, Why are you a pearl?

THE GLOVES

WHY THE GLOVE?  The white glove is symbolic of having clean hands.  In order for us to serve as a true ambassadors from God we must have clean hands.  Hands are symbolic of “human actions”; pure hands and pure actions; unjust hands are deeds of injustice.

The washing of hands has the outward sign of internal purification in other words hands represent the internal purification of ones heart.  The actions that we take based upon wat is in our hurtsl unhust deeds. The Psalmist said, “I will wash my hands in innocence and I will encompass thine alter, Jehovah.”

Proverbs 3:16

Long life is in her right hand;
In her left hand are riches and honor

Psalm 24:21

21"So they shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they will not die; and (A)it shall be a perpetual statute for them, for Aaron and his descendants throughout their generations." 4He who has (A)clean hands and a (B)pure heart, Who has not (C)lifted up his soul to falsehood; And has not (D)sworn deceitfully

Psalms 26:

6I shall (A)wash my hands in innocence,
         And I will go about
(B)Your altar, O LORD

James 4:8

8(A)Draw near to God and He will draw near to you (B)Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and (C)purify your hearts, you (D)double-minded.

The glove is a covering of the hand; pure hands with pure actions and motives,. When we wear our gloves in service to God we perform out of a clean, pure, devoted heart.  Our actions are with the purest intentions.  There are no evil motives as to why we do what we do.  Others that we are led to service will then feel the true heart of God from us and His love is demonstrated in its purest form on earth.

That's why we wear our gloves.  We are willing to empty our hearts and mind of all things that would interfer in us becoming the 3W's - WOMEN of Excellence, WOMEN of Distinction and WOMEN of Purpose.
